Tech giant twitter announced today that they will be banning all cryptocurrency advertisements starting Tuesday.
Advertisements related to initial coin offerings (ICOs), token sales, exchanges and wallet services – excluding companies listed on stock markets – will be banned. This doesn’t, however, explain how media coverage ads will fare.
The move is said to be aimed at “ensuring the safety of the Twitter community,” according to CNBC.
Twitter went on to explain,
“We have added a new policy for Twitter Ads relating to a cryptocurrency. Under this new policy, the advertisement of Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) and token sales will be prohibited globally.”
Twitter spokesmen declined to comment.
