Tron (TRX) founder Justin Sun recently bought the popular peer-to-peer file sharing platform BitTorrent for an estimated $118 million in cash. Yes, cash, not crypto. Entertainment trade site Variety has more.

BitTorrent was launched in 2004 and has had numerous legal battles due to copyright infringement. Several coun tries have gone as far as shutting down BitTorrent sites and trackers.

With an estimated 170 million users (including on its sub-client BitTorrent), the torrent network has been seeking a buyer for a number of years.

After several failed negotiations with interested parties like TiVo, Justin Sun and the TRON team finally got the deal done.

In other Tron (TRX) news, Binance is running a 10,000,000 TRX giveaway that will last for the next seven days.
